We are Friends of the Tribal Society for the Help of the Distress People

A brief description about the tribal people: Men have lived in tribes since times immemorial. It is only in the last eleven thousand years that man has learnt to live in cities and towns shunning the tribal mode of life. A tribe can be described as a group of families in a clan who have a common ancestral links.
Men living in tribes have a great lot of unity amongst them because tribal life is really unique. The tribes believe in a sense of strong blood relationship. Tribal life is overwhelmingly family oriented. Having said this, it can also be said that tribal society follow a bit degenerative habits of life which in turn makes them a bit primitive by our standards. But most tribal societies are mainly matriarchal in nature. The tribal society can thus claim to be better off than us in the way they show respect towards their women.

The tribal society is a self sufficient group unlike the modern society. The mentioned society is small in scale and has a limited amount of social, economic, political and legal relations with that of the modern society. In general though there is a feeling of unity which pervades within the tribal society.
Though singing an ode to the charm of tribal society might be done but you cannot pull back from the myriad problems facing the tribal society today. The tribal society depends on the subsistence type of economy. The economy of the tribal society is not developed according to the modern society. Though it is true that modern societal changes are seeping into the tribal society, yet the tribal society remains stoic and relentless in its features.

With reservations being made in favour of the tribal sections this backward section of the society is largely isolated with little representation in the mainstream society.
There exist many voluntary organizations in the Indian society which looks after the welfare of the tribal people. As the tribal society has a distinct culture, religion and language it is difficult to persuade into getting a modern education and keep them updated with the present day technology. It is a tough job keeping their traditions intact while them a wide overview about the contemporary education. Because unless and until the outer edges of the society are educated and taken well care of the Indian society will not be said to have achieved true advancement.

Our NGO at the service of the downtrodden: We, at Friends of Tribals Society are a non profitable, nongovernmental organization which looks after the education and literacy of the backward and especially the tribal section of our society. The ngo in india came to existence in 1989. The NGO over the years spread to twenty seven branches all over the country. The NGO India looks after rural development as well.

Educating the tribal people is quite a sensitive issue. It is so because mostly the tribal people are aloof to modern day education simply because they cannot relate with the subject matter of contemporary textbooks and study materials. An interest has to be instigated among the tribal people for modern day education. Keeping this end in mind the state of Orissa has introduced education among the tribal section of the state in tribal languages. The indian ngo, Friends of Tribals Society is constantly on the lookout for improving the quality of life of the downtrodden tribal section of our society. The NGO also looks towards improving health related issues of the tribal and rural sections of our country.
